As the Boston Globe's Senior Sports Producer, Steve Silva has been around his share of Boston Marathons.
Last year, it was Silva's finish-line footage that captured the marathon bombings and aired across the country.
This year, Silva will trade in his camera for a pair of running sneakers as he prepares to run in the 118th Boston Marathon.
"It’s very personal for me in a number of ways," says Silva. "I’ve run two marathons before and I always thought about maybe running one more marathon. I said this is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to get this done so I submitted my essay and I was selected."
Silva recalls the conflict of emotions he felt as his camera rolled amidst the chaos. He's expecting a different set of feelings this year.
"The emotions I think are going to be there right from the gathering point in Hopkinton," says Silva. "I just think it’s going to be a wave of emotions for the entire 26.2 miles."
