Providence College fired basketball coach Keno Davis Friday after a disappointing three-year stint in which the Friars compiled a 46-50 overall record, including 18-36 in the Big East.

PC was 15-17 overall this year, including 4-14 in the conference. The Friars were beaten by Marquette in the first round of the Big East tournament.

The Providence Journal reported that "Davis was dogged by issues both on and off the court in his three yearsin Providence. On the floor, his teams were consistently among theworst in the Big East in defense. Off the court, three players wereexpelled last spring for disciplinary reasons in a wave of bad pressthat significantly lowered the program's image in the community."

The Journal listed Fairfield coach and Providence native Ed Cooley, Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins, Duquesne coach Ron Everhart and Harvard coach Tommy Amakeras potential replacements.
