Morning Skate: Friday, December 28

John Feinstein rages against the NHL owners and says that they have it all wrong in this current CBA negotiation.

Lou Lamoriello says hes embarrassed by the tenor of CBA negotiations, and clearly he sounds frustrated that he hasnt been involved in talks. Hes a great hockey mind that was kept on the outside for all the wrong reasons.

Greg Wyshynski asks the question why more NHL fans havent cancelled their season tickets to force the hands of the NHL owners, and there are some very legitimate reasons behind it.

Ron MacLean talks about the thinking and philosophy that needs to soak in to end the lockout, and the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs factor into it greatly.

A couple of ex-NHL players were busted in a brawl outside a Jack in the Box in California. The shocker: alcohol might have been a factor.

Mason Raymond and his family are bound for Sweden while the NHL and NHLPA finish out the final weeks of CBA negotiations to determine whether there will be a hockey season.

For something completely different: Oscar Madison is the everyman sportswriter for all-time, and his loss will be missed.

Manziel attends AFC Championship in Brady jersey

You’ll never guess who the seventh-best quarterback* at Gillette Stadium was Sunday.

Via video posted on his Snapchat, 2014 Browns first-rounder Johnny Manziel, currently out of the league, attended the AFC Championship wearing a Tom Brady jersey.

Manziel was released by the Browns last March after two seasons and just eight starts. Had he played this season, he would have been suspended for the first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

*He might have been eighth-best. Julian Edelman played quarterback in college. People forget that.
