The Celtics finished the 2013-14 season with a record of 25-57.
Night after night... one loss after another. Brutal, but with a silver lining. The Celtics were headed towards a Top-5 pick in a loaded 2014 NBA Draft.
Instead, the Celtics ended up at No. 6 and missed out on some of their top targets.
Bob Ryan and Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely join Kirk Minihane on Arbella Early Edition to debate whether or not the Celtics are in for another season of disappointment.
"This is going to be, once again, tank time next year," says Minihane, who thinks Celtics fans will be keeping an eye on the top players in next year's draft.
But he's alone in his opinion.
"They’re not going to tank. They’re going to try," says Ryan. "The lesson was reinforced again. You don’t know how the [lottery balls] are going to fall."
And no one wants to go through another season like this last one.
“The worst thing they can do next year is just be exactly where they were this year," says Blakely. "So absolutely no growth. You either get better as a team and win more games, or you just find a way to significantly upgrade the way you did in .
"Their best shot at getting over this bump, and becoming a legit team, is to go into the season with [Rajon] Rondo and those guys and hope to God that he can step his game up so you can either win games with him or move him."
