Celtics' Rondo will play vs. Kings

SACRAMENTOThe Boston Celtics will have the league's assists leader Rajon Rondo back on the floor tonight.

Rondo did not play in Boston's 101-83 loss at Golden State due to a right hipthigh injury. It was the fourth game this season the Celtics played without Rondo, with the C's losing three of them.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers said he got word Sunday morning that Rondo would be available to play tonight.

"Eddie (Lacerte, the C's head athletic trainer) texted me this morning and said he's going," Rivers said.

Having Rondo back can only help a Celtics squad that's looking to avoid an 0-for-the-West coast trip with a win tonight.

Courtney Lee did a decent job filling in for Rondo in the loss to Golden State, scoring a season-high 18 points.

But as Rivers pointed out afterward, he doesn't pass the ball nearly as well as Rondo - not many players in the league do, for that matter.

The one player who seemed to be impacted most by Rondo's absence at Golden State was Jason Terry who had 13 points on 6-for-19 shooting.

"Most of Jet's shots were contested where with Rondo in, some of those would have been open," Rivers said.
