BC opens season vs. Northwestern Saturday

BOSTON (AP) - Northwestern is touting quarterback Dan Persa as a Heisman Trophy contender.

But first he has to get back on the field.

Persa was listed as questionable on the injury report for Saturday's game against Boston College as he tries to come back from a ruptured Achilles tendon that knocked him out of the last three games last season. The Wildcats lost all three, including a 45-38 loss to Texas Tech in the TicketCity Bowl.

Coach Pat Fitzgerald says Persa is doing well and doing everything he can to get back on the field.

Boston College has injury problems of its own. Running back Montel Harris will miss the game. He is the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason player of the year.
