It’s been a wild couple of days for the Bruins rookies in Coral Springs, Florida as they followed up yesterday’s 5-5 tie against the Tampa Bay rooks with a 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers rookies on Saturday afternoon.

The Baby Bruins scored four goals in the first period against the Panthers, but then allowed five straight unanswered goals to Florida en route to the defeat in the Sunshine State. Zach Trotman had a goal and an assist in another strong performance for the B’s rookies while Alex Khokhlachev, Anthony Camara and Jared Knight also tallied scores for the Black and Gold.

Things went downhill from there in a chippy hockey game that featured several fights between the Bruins and the Panthers, and saw Florida prospect Nick Bjugstad finish with a hat trick for Florida. Bruins prospect Adam Morrison was the goaltender for the Bruins, and made it two straight games where the Baby B’s have allowed five goals in a game.

According to the New England Hockey Journal’s Kirk Luedeke, Campbell Elynuik also suffered an upper body injury in an awkward fall while engaged in a fight with Alex Gudbranson during the first period.

The Bruins rookies wrap things up with a noontime showdown with the Nashville Predators on Sunday, and then report back to Boston for the start of NHL training camp Wednesday morning.
