Last Thursday San Jose Sharks d-man Dan Boyle was at the wrong end of a self-goal when a Paul Gaustard took a shot off the face-off that hit Boyle off the head, over the goalies shoulder and into the net.
Ouch!
Rumor has it that Gaustard was inspired by Larry Birds and Michael Jordans Nothing But Net commercials.
Sadly for Mr. Boyle, this isnt the first time hes scored on his own team.
Last year in playoff game during overtime, Boyles pass -- intended to go behind the net -- went into the net, giving the Quebec Nodiques Colorado Avalanche the victory.
This announcer isnt nearly excited enough.
After the game Annti Niemi was seen having a phone conversation with former-Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov.
Boyle shouldnt feel too bad. Leafs d-man Mike Komisarek head butted a shot into his own net last seasonalso giving a goal to the Aves.
In fact, Komisarek had about two or three self-goals before actually tallying one for his own team last year.
We kinda feel bad for Boyle; Komisarek, not so much. Anytime Komi struggles it puts a smile on our faces. But we have Boyle on our fantasy teams so shenanigans like this really kill us in the - department.
Ahhh, memories.
