FOXBORO -- Perhaps not directly responding to Chris Carter's comments that he "disappears too much against regular corners," Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch finished Monday night's 45-3 win over the New York Jets with three receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown.

His 25-yard touchdown reception on a 4th-and-3 quick slant, with 1:01 left in the first quarter, gave the Patriots a 17-0 lead.

After the game, Branch did directly respond to Carter's comments, which were made earlier in the week, and said that Carter's just one of the many who've hated on Branch's game.

"I've been doubted all my life," said Branch. "Ever since I was a little kid, I've been doubted, saying I'd never make it, that I was too short, this and that. So I mean, hearing it from Chris Carter, I didn't hear it, but that's his opinion. He's just like the next man. Somebody else will probably say something tomorrow.

"That's their opinion," added Branch. "I can't worry about the next man. I've got to do what I can do to help provide and take care of my family, and I'm going to keep doing that.

"I never look to him for advice . . . That's his opinion."
