Red Sox coaches Tim Bogar and DeMarlo Hale have already undergone preliminary interviews with the Toronto Blue Jays for their managerial vacancy and a third member of the Red Sox staff, pitchng coach John Farrell, is said to be on the list as well.
Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos and assistant GM Tony LaCava conducted the interviews late last week. The Blue Jays are in the market for a new manager after Cito Gaston decided to retire at the end of the 2010 season.
Bogar, who was the Red Sox' first-base coach in 2009 before shifting to third-base coaching duties last season, said the session, which lasted about 90 minutes, was more introductory than anything else.
"I tried to give them a sense of how I handle people and a ballclub, said Bogar. "It was kind of a 'get-to-know-me' thing -- who you are and what you're about.''
Bogar interviewed with the Houston Astros last October before the club selected former Red Sox bench coach Brad Mills as its choice. For the second time in the interviewing process, then, Bogar could find himself competing against current members of his own coaching staff.
"John and DeMarlo have been a big help to me in my career,'' said Bogar. "They're good baseball men, and if it's not me who's hired, it better be one of those two. You want the best for people you're close with. It was the same with Brad last winter -- I was more happy for him than I was disappointed for myself.''

Anthopoulos is reportedly casting a wide net in his first round of interviews, conducting most by phone before winnowing down to a list of finalists. Also in the Jays' sights are former major-league managers Don Baylor, Bobby Valentine, Bob Melvin and Eric Wedge, current Angels bench coach Ron Roenicke, and Luis Rivera, the former Red Sox infielder who managed Toronto's Double A affiliate in New Hampshire last season.
Current Toronto coaches Bruce Butterfield and Nick Leyva have also interviewed.
