OAKLAND -- The leader of the Patriots' defense, linebacker Jerod Mayo, suffered a leftMCLinjuryin the second quarter that, while not expected to be season-ending, will sideline him for a extended period of time.

Mayo seemed unable to walk under his own power and was aided off the field by the medical staff. At halftime, he was taken off the field on a cart.

"We'll look at it tomorrow and see where he's at going into this week," coach Bill Belichick said after the game.

Defensive lineman Kyle Love and running back Danny Woodhead both went down with ankle injuries. Love returned in the third quarter, and later Tweeted: "Thanks for all the prayers! I'm feeling great! Ready for the Jets next week! Love yall."
