The Patriots announced that they have re-signed defensive lineman Gerard Warren.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe was the first to report the story.

Warren was a member of the Patriots for the entire 2010 season, finishing with 17 tackles and four sacks in 16 games. The Patriots released him prior to the start of the 2011 regular season.

With the Patriots defensive line currently banged up with injuries to Albert Haynesworth (back) and Mike Wright (concussion), and the lack of pressure put on opposing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick last Sunday in Buffalo, the move is intended to sure up the defensive line heading into Oakland.

Warren played three seasons in Oakland prior to coming to the Patriots, accumulating 77 tackles and 10 sacks in 44 games.

He will wear No. 98 for New England.
