BOSTON -- Manager Terry Francona would not respond to former Sox pitcher Curt Schilling's assessment, made on WEEI Radio Tuesday, that he didnt think the Red Sox would make the playoffs. He also would not respond to David Ortizs comments Monday saying that Alfredo Aceves should be in the starting rotation.

Believe it or not, I havent read the paper, Francona said. No disrespect to you or the Internet, Ive got my hands full. There's so many of you media here, if somebody asks a question, Ill be here all day. Ive got no answer for Schill, for David. Id rather just do the game.

In a 1-on-1 interview with Jessica Moran on SportsNet Central, Francona expounded a bit on Schilling's statements.

"People get paid to give opinions," he said. "I understand that . . .

"I don't have a problem with what Schilling said. He didn't say we're bad people. He just gave an opinion. I'm okay with that.

"I hope he's wrong," Francona added.
