ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- As bad as the news has been for the Red Sox recently, there were a few positive tidbits Sunday the Sox could cling to.

Josh Beckett, who is battling a sprained ankle suffered in his start last Monday in Toronto, will throw a bullpen Monday and could start as soon as Thursday, though the Red Sox aren't committed to that until they see his side session.

And Clay Buchholz, who long-tossed and threw on flat ground for much of the trip, will have one more such session Tuesday before being re-examined and possibly cleared to throw his first bullpen session.
