ST. PETERBURG, Fla. -- The Red Sox announced after Friday night's loss to the Rays that KevinYoukilis, who flew to Boston to have hisailing left hip examined, is suffering from bursitis.

Youkilisreceived an injection Friday afternoon and if he feels better Saturdaymorning, could rejoin the Red Sox here Saturday night. If he's notimproved, the plan is to have to remain in Boston until the Sox flyhome Sunday night, the end of their seven-game road trip.

"Idon't know if we''ll play him or not if he flies back to Florida,''said manager Terry Francona. "But he might be able to pinch-hit. He might be able toplay. We don't quite know. Anytime you get an injection . . . we'll see howhe wakes up and feels.''

Youkilis played all nine innings of the Sox'loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday, but he was at first base, not third,as Adrian Gonzalez got the night off.
