UPDATE: ESPN reports that the Waters deal could be worth up to 5.5 million.

The Patriots' vintage player collection will grow again. Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters has agreed to terms with the Patriots. ESPN first reported Waters' signing. The list of long-time NFL players added this offseason is long. The most notable: Albert Haynesworth, Shaun Ellis, Andre Carter andChad Ochocinco. Now comes Waters, a five-time Pro Bowler (including last year) and two time All-Pro (2004 and 2005). Waters' wasreleased by the Chiefs in late July. The split was amicable. Said Waters at the time of his release, "There are some good teams out there that have a chance to win the Super Bowl. It's just a matter of what opportunities come along.''The Patriots are light in the interior line. Right guard Dan Connolly has a leg injury and his primary backup Rich Ohrnberger was put on injured reserve. Waters would likely be a plug-and-play option if he's kept himself in shape over the last month. The Patriots will have to release a player to clear room for Waters on the 53-man roster.
