With the NBA lockout set to get underway, Kevin Garnett said that he thinks an agreement will be reached, but if the season is lost, the players are ready.
"You hear that the owners are ready to lose a season," Garnett told Dan Patrick on the Dan Patrick Show. "You don't understand some of the motives of some of this. We have a stand we're going to take on this whole issue. At the end of the day, a common ground will be found. This game is too beautiful...I can't see parting with a season. But I think if we do do that, both sides are prepared for that."
Garnett seems to be bringing his signature intensity to the lockout. When asked if he trusts the NBA owners, he answered in mid-season form.
"You trust no one in this," he said. "You trust the players, we're all negotiating in this, but you never trust the other side because you don't know what they're thinking...I don't know what they want."
Garnett hit on a few other interesting topics, including whether or not he's had discussions of a contract extension with the Celtics.
"I haven't," said Garnett, who has one year left on his current deal. "Danny in passing, in a joking moment he'll throw something up in the air. But nothing that concrete."

Garnett told Patrick that he still enjoys the game and his teammates, but he's not sure how much longer he would like to play.
Something that might make Celtics fans thank their lucky stars: Garnett said he was very close to going to the Lakers, not the Celtics.
"I was pretty close to going to LA to be honest," Garnett said. "What disturbed me about the whole Laker situation was Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson at the time. They was pretty bad. That situation was something I didn't want to get into. It was my choice. There was a lot going on and I didn't want to be a part of it."
Garnett and Patrick talked video games, too. Garnett will be playing some other NBA stars (Chris Bosh, Kevin Love to name two) in the game Call of Duty this weekend as part of an event. He also said he plays EA Sports games Madden and FIFA, and the NBA 2k games.
"Trash talking is part of it," Garnett said of his video game hobby.
Garnett told Patrick that the host had a better chance of hitting a ball over the Green Monster than scoring a basket in an NBA game. That led to an exchange in which Garnett recalled a softball game that the Celtics played at Fenway Park. Garnett said he hit one ball off of the Green Monster. He said Rajon Rondo hit two off the Wall and Shaquille O'Neal, of course, knocked one over the Monster.
"Shaq's the business, man," Garnett said. "It was truly an honor to play with him. "This year was the most fun I've had in the NBA in a long time."
