FOXBORO -- Albert Haynesworth hasn't practiced since last Thursday. That includes Wednesday morning's walkthrough in Gillette Stadium. The massive defensive tackle hasn't been out at practice as a spectator, either. Or been seen heading to work with trainers with the other injured guys. At 6-foot-6 and 350 pounds, he's a tough guy to hide. But the Patriots are doing it. And, if Bill Belichick is true to his generalization from Tuesday, Haynesworth won't play in the preseason opener Thursday night against Jacksonville. A player who hasn't practiced in the days leading to a game won't play, right?
"Id say thats probably right," Belichick agreed. "I hate to make any absolutes on that, but its probably right."Also absent from the walkthrough and not likely to play based on Belichick's rationale are Brandon Spikes, Ras-I Dowling, Shaun Ellis, Matt Light, Dan Connolly and Kevin Faulk. Chad Ochocinco was not at practice at the start but showed about halfway through. Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who's had a very good start to camp, returned to the field after missing Tuesday's workout. Recent signees Andre Carter and Gerard Warren were on the field as well. Tom E. Curran can be reached at tcurran@comcastsportsnet.com. Follow Tom on Twitter at http:twitter.comtomecurran
