Report: Red Sox pushing for Quentin, Thornton

The Red Sox could potentially be playing against a couple of their soon-to-be teammates, if reports that they're interested in the White Sox outfielder Carlos Quentin and LHP Matt Thornton are true.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today tweets, "Red Sox pushing hard for Carlos Quentin and LHPThornton, but White Sox would have to be overwhelmed with prospects."

The report was confirmed by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, who tweeted that a source told him the Sox wanted Thornton, but Quentin could be more of a move made in the winter.

Rosenthal also reports that the Red Sox' interest in Hiroki Kuroda increased last night after the poor outing that Eric Bedard had for the Mariners.
