New England's release of Nick Kaczur, Alge Crumpler and Ty Warren headline a number of Friday afternoon moves.

The team also announced the official signing of third round draftee quarterback Ryan Mallett. Offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, a fifth round draft pick out of Texas Christian, also signed. Terms of neither contract were announced.

Kaczur, a tackle drafted in 2005's third round, spent six seasons with New England. He started 62 of 68 regular season and seven playoff games. A training camp injury landed him on IR for most of last season.

Crumpler is a four-time NFL Pro Bowler, picked up by the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on March 24, 2010. He started 10 of 16 regular season games and had six catches for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

Warren was drafted 13th overall by New England in 2003. The Texas A&M product started 92 of 105 games in his eight years with the Patriots. In that time he recorded 496 tackles, 20.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries. A hip injury relegated Warren to IR for the entire 2010 season.

The Patriots also released cornerback Tony Carter, Marcus Stroud and rookie free agent linebacker Ryan Coulson of Nevada.
