FOXBORO - Patirots fans just wanted Tom Brady to get through the 2009 preseason intact. His 2008 season was ruined in the opening minutes of the first game. The only thing worse would be losing him for a second straight year in the preseason. Enter Albert Haynesworth. The Redskins new-at-the-time-acquisition squished Brady like a grape during the Patriots final preseason game. It looked like Brady jammed his shoulder on the play. As it turned out, he cracked ribs and they bothered him through the rest of the 2009 season. I asked Brady about the play on Friday, "I saw him this morning and I said, I still havent forgiven you for that," Bradyjoked. "Haynesworth said, God, I got a lot of friends up here, and theyve all given him a lot of grief over the years. Hes a big guy, and theres a lot of competition at the D-line position. ... Hopefully he can come in and fill a role, and hell be a good part of the success of this team. I think thats what were all trying to do.It was after this hit that Haynesworth actually expressed a deep yearning for the Patriots. Or said he liked the team. Somewhere in the middle. "Im not trying to hurt Brady, especially that time, because I like that team," Haynesworth revealed. "When you step back from football, Ive always liked the Patriots. I dont know why. Its just something about them. Ive always liked the Patriots.
