Maxwell: Pierce better not rely on poker

With the NBA lockout in place, Celtics captain Paul Pierce has made it to Day 2 of the World Series of Poker.

Asked to assess Pierce's game, Celtics radio color analyst Cedric Maxwell joked he should stay away from the tables when his basketball career is done.

"If he's going to do that, he'll have no money at all," Maxwell said with a laugh on Comcast SportsNet New England's Sports Sunday. "He'll have less money than Antoine Walker, if he's depending on the World Series of Poker to win that money.

"Paul Pierce is a pretty good poker play, but playing with the professionals right now? No. Paul Pierce does not have it," said Maxwell. "He has the money to play, but no."

Out of the NBA, Walker plead guilty earlier this year to passing bad checks in Las Vegas. He was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay off 750,000 in debt to two casinos.
