WILMINGTONThe Bruins have one more order of business for their Boston roster this summer, and general manager Peter Chiarelli indicated Monday that theyve started working on it.

Chiarelli is in discussions with restricted free agent Brad Marchands agent for a contract to secure the pesky wingers services for the next few years after a breakthrough rookie season. The 23-year-old potted 20 goals during the regular season and a franchise record 11 goals in the Stanley Cup playoffsa record mark for a first year player in the postseason.

The Bs general manager has consistently said that the team will get a deal done with the impish forward, who has been back in his native Nova Scotia after a wild week of celebration in Boston following the Cup win.

Chiarelli wouldnt characterize the discussions, but its expected that Marchand is going to get a substantial raise in his deal to something in the 2.5-3-5 million range before its all said and done.

We continue to talk and weve had some discussion and Ill leave it at that, said Chiarelli when asked about the negotiations.
