It's a question that's stirred arguments between fans and discussions among football analysts for years. Who's better: Tom Brady or Peyton Manning?
Brady won the latest showdown between the NFL's two first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterbacks as he was selected the No. 1 player in the league by his peers for the NFL Network's Top 100 show. Manning was voted No. 2.
"It's very flattering," said Brady in an interview on the NFL Network after the show. "The thing I love about football is it's a team sport. Ultimately I give all the thanks to teammates past and present."
Brady praised Manning, his longtime rival, saying the Colts quarterback is "the greatest."
"To me," Brady said, "he's the greatest of all time . . . When you watch and learn from the best, hopefully that makes me better."
Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis (voted the No. 4 player in the league) presented Brady, along with Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis (No. 8).
"He's not the biggest, he was never the strongest, he was never the fastest," said Lewis. "He was overlooked; he went in the sixth round. So with that being said, all the intangibles a quarterback is supposed to have, they overlooked with him, because it was burning from the inside of him."
New England Patriots
Revis has developed a special appreciation for Brady during his four-year career after playing against the Patriots twice a year in the regular season.
"I think players voted him No. 1 because he's a winner," Revis said. "He has a big heart. He doesn't like to lose. I see it twice a year, I always see it in his eyes. He's a warrior."
