Celtics expected to make qualifying offer to Green

The Jeff Green trade didn't quite work out as planned for the Celtics last season, but the team is giving him a vote of confidence.

Danny Ainge said that the Celtics will make a qualifying contract offer to Jeff Green, which will give them the right to match any offer made to Green, who is a restricted free agent.

"It will happen this week," Ainge said.

The Celtics acquired Green from the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with center Nenad Krstic, in exchange for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson. Usually coming off the bench for the Celtics, a different role for Green in his NBA career, he averaged 9.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 22 minutes per game.
