Doc Rivers will be back on the Celtics sidelines next season, but will there be a new assistant coach alongside him?

Celtics assistant coach Lawrence Frank met with the Rockets in Houston on Monday for a second round of interviews for their head coaching position, according to FOX 26 Sports. Multiple reports have noted Frank is one of three finalists for the position, along with former Celtic Kevin McHale and Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey.

Prior to joining the Celtics last season, Frank was the head coach of the New Jersey Nets for over six seasons. He has a career coaching record of 225-241 (.483).

This is not the first time a Celtics assistant coach has been in the running for a head coaching vacancy. Last summer Tom Thibodeau was hired for the head role on the Chicago Bulls. He won the 2011 NBA Coach of the Year Award.
