Before his 79-inch frame got fed into the whirring blades of the NFL Draft process, Ryan Mallett was actually seen by one wag as a possible No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. SI.com's Andrew Perloff is said wag (AKA McLovin from the Dan Patrick Show pictured here and here). In a mock done April 27, 2010, Perloff had Mallett going first overall (he went 74th) and cornerback Ras-I Dowling going 16th overall (he went 33rd to the Patriots). Perloff had Mallett, Da'Quan Bowers and Robert Quinn as the first three overall picks. Overall, it was a pretty good effort by McLovin' buoyed in large part by the fact that he actually got it right at No. 6 with the Browns and Julio Jones. (Thanks to my email agitator J. Kelleher for sending the link).Tom E. Curran can be reached at tcurran@comcastsportsnet.com. Follow Tom on Twitter at http:twitter.comtomecurran
