According to reports, Shaquille O'Neal plans to be back on the floor by April 1, but in the meantime he will wear a boot to stabilize his injured right foot, says CSNNE.com Celtics Insider A. Sherrod Blakely.

Shaq has been out since Feb. 1 with an assortment of injuries, most notably a right Achilles strain. He was given a cortisone shot and the boot would help his footankle continue to heal before the Celtics begin the playoffs.

Conceivably, Shaq could show up to games wearing the boot, play in the game, then strap the boot back on afterward, just to be safe.

Jermaine ONeal, who would be one of Shaq's backups at center, also is expecting to be back with the team just before April 1, GM Danny Ainge told the Boston Herald.
