BOSTONWe've seen Paul Pierce have bad games shooting the ball.

But 0-for-10?

Something's gotta be wrong with the captain, right?

We'll find out Monday when, according to Pierce, he'll have an Magnetic Resonance Imaging test performed on his left foot.

Following Boston's 85-82 win over the Miami Heat, Pierce said he wasn't sure if he was even going to play against Miami.

"It was tough for me," said Pierce, who hadn't missed every shot he took in a game since an 0-for-7 performance against Chicago on Dec. 13, 2000. "Battling a couple of minor injuries, my right hand and my left foot. I told coach Doc Rivers I really didn't have it today, just tried to grind it out. Thank goodness we came out with the win."

Pierce said he suffered the foot injury about a week ago, and the hand injury occurred when it was hit during Saturday's practice.

Unable to be effective scoring the ball, Pierce tried to make up for that by playing solid defense.

Miami's LeBron James had a strong game with 22 points, but he needed 21 shots to get it.

"That's pretty much all I could give us, trying to slide my feet defensively," Pierce said.

Even if the MRI comes back negative, the C's may think long and hard about shutting the Captain down until after the All-star break.

If Pierce does not play, it would be yet another game in which the Celtics lose one player only to gain one back from an injury.

Delonte West, who has been out since Nov. 24 with a broken right wrist injury, is on track to return to the Celtics lineup Wednesday against the New Jersey Nets.

Pierce's injury becomes even more glaring when you consider what little depth the C's now have at his position.

With Marquis Daniels (bruised spinal cord) out indefinitely, Pierce potentially being out of the lineup means the C's will not have a true small forward.

If he can't play, Boston will probably start Von Wafer who played a role in the Celtics' win over the Heat by scoring 10 points - that's two short of his season high - off the bench.
