"We dont have everybody going on all cylinders and competing at the level we should you know it just makes it hard for us," said Mark Recchi, lamenting points lost after the game. The Sabres took their first lead of the night five minutes into the third, when Thomas Vanek beat Tuukka Rask top-left with a half-slapper on a 2-on-1.

Bruins defenseman Mark Stuart decided to play the pass, but Rask still couldnt stop Vaneks shot from the right side, giving Buffalo a 3-2 lead.

Jason Pominville added the fourth with 3:20 left in the game, putting home a cross-ice feed from Vanek, while skating hard to the right post.

The Bruins blew leads of 1-0 and 2-1 thanks to a pair of second-period Buffalo goals from Cody McCormick and Nathan Gerbe.

McCormick led the second off by rewarding himself with an open net after first hitting the left post with a shot from the high slot, and then putting his own rebound into an empty net, as Rask was caught spinning around to look for the puck.

The goal came 1:04 into the period, and it tied the game at 1-1.

Fourth-line center Gregory Campbell put the Bruins back on top, 2-1, nearly four minutes later, as he finished off a pair of pretty passes from linemates Shawn Thornton and Blake Wheeler.

Thornton fed the puck out to the top of the left circle, from the corner, and Wheeler quickly re-directed it to Campbell, who finished top-right with a wrist shot from the slot, giving him his eighth point (4 goals, 4 assists) in his last seven games.

Gerbe tied it at 2-2 midway through the period after receiving a nice cross-ice pass through the slot from Tyler Myers.

Myers found Gerbe from the right slot, and Gerbe finished from the left circle, past Rask, who decided to dive to his right, instead of sliding over on his pads.

Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg had initially put the Bs up 1-0, with nine minutes left to play in the first period, after his one-timer from the middle of the point snuck under Millers right arm, while Nathan Horton was parked put front for the screen.Danny Picard is on Twitter at http:twitter.comDannyPicard.
