BOSTON -- Marquis Daniels left Wednesdays game against the Detroit Pistons because of a sprained left ankle, but he doesnt expect to be out for long.

He told CSNNE.com that he plans to play on Friday against the Utah Jazz.

I just tweaked my ankle, he said. I think I landed wrong.

Daniels suffered the injury two minutes into the second quarter during the Celtics 86-82 win.

He explained that he did not return because my ankle was just sore.

Daniels, who walked with a noticeable limp after the game, will follow the team doctors orders of ice and elevation.

Daniels has appeared in all 41 of the Celtics games this season. Last season he played in just 51 games to due injuries. He has repeatedly emphasized that staying healthy is a priority for him this time around.
